My short article, Career development is to answer "When I grow up, what will I be?", has been published in Australian Career Practitioner (ACP) Magazine.

When I first watched the commencement video in 2005, I barely understood what he is saying. When I read the translated script in Korean, I got it. To my memory, it was a very inspiring speech that makes people to want to live their own lives.

Now, I am "reading" Steve Job's biography through Audible.com. It led me to find some photos of his early days. While searching, I came across his iconic Standford speech again.

한국 TV 프로그램중에 내가 유일하게 보는 것은 '무한도전'이다.  유재석의 개인적인 이야기를 바탕으로 이적과 함께 만든 '말하는대로'는 나의 연구주제이자 인생주제인 human agency와 아주 딱 들어맞는다. 지금까지 존재하는 어떤 음악도 이처럼 나의 주제가 같이 느껴지는 것은 없었다.

Albert Bandura는 Human agency, 즉 자신의 삶의 본질과 삶의 질을 바꾸는데 영향을 미치는 능력에는 4가지 요소가 있다고 하는데, 유재석의 "말하는대로"에는 그 4가지 요소가 고스란히 녹아들어 있다.

"말하는대로", "생각한대로" "마음먹은대로"라는 대목은 목적의식 (intentionality)을 뜻하며,
"내일 뭐하지?" "내일 뭘할지 꿈꾸게 했지"라는 의문은 미래고찰 (forethought)이다.

Here are what I am doing:
1)Use Zotero to keep all references and PDF files on my main laptop (needs FF)
2)Change the PDF file names using the "Rename file from Parent Metadata" function

나의 연구 주제는 Human Agency이다. 한국어로 딱히 번역될만한 단어가 없다. 경영학에서의 Agency Theory는 한국어로는 대리인 이론으로 번역이 되어 활용되어 지지만, Human Agency는 '대리인'이란 개념을 포괄하고 있는 좀 더 확장된 개념이다. Albert Bandura는 Human Agency의 3가지 양식-Personal Agency, Proxy Agency, Collective Agency-을 설명하는데, 그 중, 경영학에서의 Agency Theory는 Proxy Agency에 해당한다.

한국에서 많은 학부모들이 이제는 초등학교, 심지어 유치원 때부터 명문대 입학을 목표로 아이들을 만들어(?)내고 있다고 하는데, 이 얼마나 큰 사회적인 낭비이며, 젊은 청춘들에게 얼마나 가혹한 처사인가? 초등학교에 들어서는 순간 그 어린 아이들이 경쟁에서 살아남기 위해 몇 개 씩의 학원을 다니고, 중, 고등학교로 진학을 하며 숨이 막혀가는 현실. 명문대에 우수한 성적으로 입학했다고 치자. 그들의 행복이 보장되는가? 너무나도 많은 대학생들이 방황하는 것을 보아오면서 "이건 아니다!"라는 생각이 강하게 들었고, 그 느낌이 어쩌면 지금의 나를 경력개발이라는 분야로 이끌었을지 모른다.
