Revisiting Steve Job's 2005 Stanford Commencement Speech
When I first watched the commencement video in 2005, I barely understood what he is saying. When I read the translated script in Korean, I got it. To my memory, it was a very inspiring speech that makes people to want to live their own lives.
Now, I am "reading" Steve Job's biography through Audible.com. It led me to find some photos of his early days. While searching, I came across his iconic Standford speech again.

말하는대로 - 유재석
한국 TV 프로그램중에 내가 유일하게 보는 것은 '무한도전'이다. 유재석의 개인적인 이야기를 바탕으로 이적과 함께 만든 '말하는대로'는 나의 연구주제이자 인생주제인 human agency와 아주 딱 들어맞는다. 지금까지 존재하는 어떤 음악도 이처럼 나의 주제가 같이 느껴지는 것은 없었다.
Albert Bandura는 Human agency, 즉 자신의 삶의 본질과 삶의 질을 바꾸는데 영향을 미치는 능력에는 4가지 요소가 있다고 하는데, 유재석의 "말하는대로"에는 그 4가지 요소가 고스란히 녹아들어 있다.
"말하는대로", "생각한대로" "마음먹은대로"라는 대목은 목적의식 (intentionality)을 뜻하며,
"내일 뭐하지?" "내일 뭘할지 꿈꾸게 했지"라는 의문은 미래고찰 (forethought)이다.
Human Agency에 대한 소고 (小考)
나의 연구 주제는 Human Agency이다. 한국어로 딱히 번역될만한 단어가 없다. 경영학에서의 Agency Theory는 한국어로는 대리인 이론으로 번역이 되어 활용되어 지지만, Human Agency는 '대리인'이란 개념을 포괄하고 있는 좀 더 확장된 개념이다. Albert Bandura는 Human Agency의 3가지 양식-Personal Agency, Proxy Agency, Collective Agency-을 설명하는데, 그 중, 경영학에서의 Agency Theory는 Proxy Agency에 해당한다.

TITLE: Career Flow Index: A Tool for Career Self-Management in the Rapidly Changing Work Environment
PRESENTERS: Hyung Joon Yoon and Hyoyeon In, The Pennsylvania State University
SUMMARY: The Career Flow Index (CFI) is a new assessment that measures career flow competencies that are essential for career self-management. The CFI assesses the degrees of hope, self-reflection, self-clarity, visioning, goal setting/planning, and implementing/adapting. The session will address the purpose, target population, and administration and application of the CFI. Participants will complete case studies of the CFI and be actively involved in discussing how to apply the CFI to career development intervention practice.

Human Agency and Appreciative Inquiry
When I first heard about Appreciative Inquiry (AI) in 2007, I really liked the concept and approach. Around that time, I have begun to develop my own career development model, called the Integrative Cognitive Information Processing Approach. When I presented this model at the AHRD and NCDA conferences, reactions from the participants were very good. I also have been developing the Assessment of Human Agency (AHA), which applied Bandura's concept of human agency.
